This site is run by Martin Maudal, trading as Baldy Crawlers and Maudal Musical Machines, in Mt. Baldy, California. This policy explains what personal information is collected here, why, and what your rights are.

What is collected

If you join the mailing list — your name and email address, and a record of your consent and when it was given.

If you send a message — your name, email address, and whatever you write.

If you buy something — order and delivery details are handled by the store platform. Payment card details are processed by the payment provider and are never received or stored here.

Automatically, when you visit — pages viewed, approximate location from your IP address, device and browser type, how you arrived, and how you interacted with the page. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.

Why

  • To send email about new music, instruments, and shop work, where you have asked to receive it.
  • To reply to messages you send.
  • To fulfil orders.
  • To understand which pages and sources people arrive from, so advertising and promotion aren't wasted.

Under UK and EU law the lawful bases are your consent for marketing email and non-essential cookies, contract for orders, and legitimate interests for basic site analytics and security.

How long it is kept

Mailing list details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed. Messages are kept as long as they are useful for correspondence. Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Analytics data is retained according to each provider's default settings.

Your rights

You can ask to see what is held about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how it is used. You can withdraw consent for marketing email at any time — every email has an unsubscribe link, and it works.

If you are in the UK or EU you also have the right to data portability and the right to complain to your local data protection authority. If you are in California you have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know, delete, and opt out of any sale of personal information — no personal information is sold here.
